Our Babe of the Month for January, Lina Trivedi, is known as the woman who invented eCommerce (when she created the world’s first business-to-consumer website for Beanie Babies while working at Ty Inc.) and subsequently ‘gave birth’ to the internet as we know it today. She was a true pioneer in online marketing. Prior to the release of the film “The Beanie Bubble”, Trivedi surprisingly did not get much recognition for these major, trailblazing achievements. Trivedi was also the first to break the internet during the Beanie Babies Craze - a craze that her marketing ideas helped happen. Before the Beanie Babies website was created by Lina Trivedi and her brother, the internet was only really being used for phone directory purposes and some academic use. The internet as we know it today was born when Trivedi created the first business-to-consumer website for #BeanieBabies !!
